CEO

Terry Osei Kuffour, also known as "T.O." in the Afro-European Diaspora or "Terry Osei", is the charismatic visionary and leader in the team.

In the year 2010 he gained the title “Mr Ghana-Germany” and participated in Ghanaian social-projects. These events allowed the connection to his roots (The Motherland) grow even stronger which is why he felt the need to include his roots in everything he does, both business and artistically as well as socially. Accordingly, for him, the establishment of "Mataa's Kitchen" not only represents the fulfillment of a childhood dream, but also a kind of vocation.

Parallel to his artistic activities as a musician, he pursued an academic career, which was characterized with many ups and downs. Starting with law school, which he did not finish due to lack of interest, up to a teacher training course, for which he decided during a phase of his life where he was yearning for much peace, stability and security - as the teacher job promised comparatively safer and relaxed job prospects.

Despite good grades and a thoroughly existing interest in the basic matter (teaching subjects: Politics, Economy & English), he felt this career path was perhaps the simpler, safer and more calculable road, but somehow contradicting with his talents and gifts, as well as his passion and enthusiasm for the more active life of an entrepreneur. Terry is an analytical-thinking, but also a creative-acting individual who likes to "create" or produce contents that conveys value to his fellow human beings, and in the best case rewarded for it. As a result, the desire to start his own business has always existed, but until the proposed business idea materialized, it lacked the necessary amount of courage, self-confidence and some form of risk-taking. Meanwhile, these characteristics have developed.

To finance his studies, Terry has spent years working in the fashion retail industry; Mostly part-time, but occasionally doing full-time hours. His charisma made him a top seller and a well-known personality of the city of Oldenburg.

During his full-time employment, he noticed the following problem especially during his lunch breaks: the food options were always the same. You can choose between Asian cuisine, Central European (e.g. pasta, pizza etc.), American Fast Food (fries, burgers, etc.) or oriental cuisine (doner kebab etc.). The African cuisine on the other hand, which is quick to prepare, tastes delicious and saturates well, was non-existent and this is what we as Africans or Afro-Germans are accustomed to growing up. This observation could not only be made in his Hometown Hamburg, but also in Hannover, Oldenburg or Bremen. And there it was - this moment - the moment when you realize that the existing childhood dream ("I want to own the African version of McDonalds") does not have to be just fantasy or hypothetic... in fact, it could bridge a gap in the market.

And then everything came together…
